Northern Valentine

field recording :: 02/19/05 :: The Sanitarium

these pictures are from our "field trip" to The Sanitarium...a most fascinating place to record, but bitter cold in early February!

there are a few shots of the various rooms, some of our equipment scattered about, robert and amy recording a duet for guitar and metal pipe, robert (again, at another pipe?), and a valentine that we found in the corner of a room (a sure sign that we were meant to record there).

field recording :: 07/18-19/05 :: St. John, New Brunswick / Halifax, Nova Scotia

we took a wonderful holiday to Canada, and did a little recording while we were there. while St. John is a much sleepier place compared to Halifax, there were sounds everywhere that were perfect for our Rusted Gates cd-r series.

northern valentine live :: 01/12/06 :: The Fire, Philadelphia (PA)

we had an invite from The Fire to play on a Thursday evening, and how could we not do that? there were around 20 people present when we finally looked up at the end of our set, and we were warmly received...which calmed our nerves!

you can thank Dave and Den Kingery for the pictures below, as they were gracious enough to snap a few shots while we did our thing on stage. amy, robert and matt are pictured in various states of musical bliss, instrument switching and nervous excitement, as well as some of the wonderful people who showed up to watch us!

northern valentine in Iceland :: March 2006

after travelling to Iceland, we did not want to return to the States. even in the whipping winds of March, Iceland presented us with a great sense of relaxation and bliss that we have never experienced. below you will see us in some of the places we visited during our stay.

what a great night this was! we improvised quite a bit and actually ended up amazing ourselves with what came out of us. there is something about being on the stage that really brings it out...and thanks again to Den and Dave Kingery for capturing the pictures below:

for a minor reflection came over all the way from Iceland to tour with us for a week.
